Old woman devoured by pig

Tragic Muriel, 84, had just won £30

AS Muriel Hattersley strolled home from bingo, a £30 win tucked into her purse, she didn’t have a care in the world.
Little did the 84-year-old former chemical worker know, she’d end the evening inside an angry pig’s GUTS.

Muriel spent every Wednesday night at the Nirvana Big Prize bingo hall on the outskirts of Crewe, Cheshire.

And, despite family concerns about her safety, she insisted on walking the one mile home after an evening of housey-housey.

That independence was to be her downfall, for she apparently tripped over a tree root as she crossed a farmer’s field and knocked herself out.

Horrified

She was then partially devoured by a pig that had escaped from nearby farm buildings.

Devastated daughter Janet Wilson, 50, last night told Sunday Sport: “ Mum insisted on walking home from the bingo.

“ We were worried she’d be mugged but she said she lived on the outskirts of town – countryside really – and she’d be safe.

“ But she clearly wasn’t safe from maneating, from GRAN-eating, pigs.”

Janet explained that police had been called to the scene by horrified farm workers, who found Muriel’s remains at first light.

Fleshier

Forensic experts concluded that the gran of 11 was probably still alive, though unconscious, when the male oinker made a meal of her fleshier parts.

Janet said: “ Nobody likes to hear that their mum has been eaten by a pig – let alone eaten alive by a pig. It’s horrible.”

Local farmer Kelvin Dixon, 57, fumed: “ We have all sorts traipsing over the fields at all hours.
