Man murdered and his head cemented to ground
AHMEDABAD: In a bizarre murder case, a 34-year-old man working as a manager in a city restaurant was allegedly bludgeoned to death and his head was cemented below a sink in a flat in Vejalpur area of the city.
Though police are working on various aspects, they are not ruling out financial angle coupled with homosexual relationship. According to Vejalpur police station officials, they received a message on Thursday morning about recovery of a body from a flat. They later identified it as that of Manish Gupta, a native of Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh.
''The body was found in a fetal position, under the sink and his head was cemented properly with two bricks put on top of his head. The masonry work was completed by putting a tile on the top of the cemented head. The rest of the body was covered by a blanket,'' said M C Patel, inspector of Vejalpur police station.
According to the post-mortem report, Gupta's death was caused by an injury inflicted by a heavy, blunt weapon on the head.
Gupta was one of the three occupants of the flat. The other two were Ramesh Desai and Harisinh Rana, who worked at the same restaurant. The flat belongs to the restaurant owners, who often give it to members of the staff.
''They had worked together at restaurants in Goa, Mehsana and Ahmedabad. There could have been some financial problem as the three had monetary transactions earlier,'' said an investigating officer. Another angle under probe is homosexuality. ''The way the body was disposed of and the condition in which Gupta was found points towards something unusual,'' said the official.
